Foodservice Manager Certification
In most Jurisdictions throughout the US owners and managers of foodservice establishments are required to be certified in food safety. California law requires foodservice facilities to have at least one certified manager. However, many businesses opt to certify the entire foodservice staff.
The Family Health Services Training Center offers a four hour preparatory course designed to upgrade the knowledge of food service professionals who are responsible for protecting the public health in foodservice establishments. The state approved certifying exam is available immediately following the course.
Foodservice Employee Certification
This three hour course trains and certifies foodservice employees in the basics of safe food handling. This course satisfies the requirement for foodsafety certification of food service workers as mandated by some county and municipal jurisdictions and is recommended for employees of all foodservice establishments.
Location of Training
Foodsafety courses are presented in several languages on an ongoing basis at a number of Family Health Services locations throughout the state of California.
For Los Angeles and northern California call: (866) 754 - 7030.
In-House Classes
Certified instructors are available to present the course and exam onsite at foodservice facilities when a minimum of 15 individuals participate. Home Study
A home study packet is available that includes a user friendly course book along with an excellent practice exam. This option allows the student to study and to prepare to challenge the national certifying exam at his or her own pace.
The National Certifying Exam
The state approved national certifying exam used in the course is the Thompson Prometric Certified Professional Food Manager Exam. This exam will be available at the training site at the end of the 4 hour training course. Challenging The Exam
Individuals may be allowed to sit for the exam without taking the training course. These persons may receive certification after achieving a minimum score of 70%.
The cost of the national certifying exam is $65 and is separate from the cost of the course.
